There are three stages to setting up a marquee the first is to erect the metal frame. The second is to attach the waterproof covers to the marquee and the third is to finish the marquee interior with liners carpets and any extras such as furniture, dancefloor etc. When it comes to garden marquee hire, some gardens are more of a challenge than others. Access and the space available are sometimes the main difficulty, but garden levels and fixed obstructions can also be a concern. The following is a account of a recent garden marquee hire which presented several of these challenges.
Erecting the marquee frame

The back garden measured 46 ft wide by 26ft long and was very close to the adjacent property's. The house had a ground floor protruding section reducing the usable space in the garden. As well as this the garden a paved and wooden decked areas, several walls, shrubs, a giant hot tub with a fixed metal privacy frame around it and a large tree encroaching from a neighbors garden. The client also wanted to seat 70 people in this small space, so almost the entire garden area would need to be covered. In order to avoid the obstructions a marquee with adjustable leg heights and center peak of over 5 meters was used. |

Normally the the first phase of erecting a marquee is to assembled the roof beams and legs of the marquee on the ground then after placing in the correct position these sections are raised to the correct height. The different sections of the marquee are then connected and locked into place. However in this case the Marquee frame would have to be put up over the extension, in between the existing metal framework and the marquee legs would also need to be on different levels. To achieve this the Marquee frame had to be partly put together to provide support and then sections removed and reassembled to avoid the obstructions. This was more difficult as the marquee used had to be over 5 meters high to allow the marquee to span the extension. As the marquee had to sit partly on a raised section adjustable legs were required to compensate for the difference in heights. |

These images shows the silver marquee frame overlapping the red metal framed structure around the hot tub. This section required the marquee frame to be dismantled and reconnected as the leg in the far corner was put into place. The frame had to be supported by hand as the leg was adjusted to the correct height. The image on the right shows the marquee frame over the protruding extension. setting up the marquee in this way meant the more of the garden could be utilized for the party. |
